The AET is a not for profit programme led by two national autism charities – the National Autistic Society and Ambitious about Autism. Established and supported by the Department for Education, the AET promotes and supports partnerships throughout the education system to improve educational access, experience and outcomes for children and young people with autism. Under their resources tab the range of resources include Good Autism Practice – a range of case studies exemplifying practice. This DfE backed research is free to download and includes a research report written by Karen Guldberg, Ryan Bradley and Kirstin Wittemeyer alongside school / setting case studies written by Claire Phillips and Jo Briscombe. There is also access to an autism competency framework and autism standards.

Founded by Dame Shirley, Autistica is a charity which funds and campaigns for research to understand the causes of autism, improve diagnosis, and develop evidence based approaches and strategies to help autistic people lead long and happy lives. There are expert webinars on Autisic Social Belonging and Connectness, Establishing Family Routines in Uncertain Times and Coping with Uncertainty in Uncertain Situations.

This is an autism-friendly learning resource from AsIAm and SuperValu in Ireland. The aim of this resource is to support a facilitator (parent, SNA, teacher or home support worker) in working with a student during the summer months. The document explains key skills and strategies to the facilitator. A friend, Alex, is on hand to support students in learning key concepts and engaging in activities. The 50 pages cover key topics from social skills to “my first day back in school” and are augmented by an online bank of further information and activity sheets.

Helpful podcast from the Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health to support parents of children and young people with autism. Dr. Ann Ozsivadjian is joined by Dr. Marianna Murin, and interviewed by freelance journalist Jo Carlowe to discuss issues that may arise for autistic children including the disruption of closing schools, anxiety and obsessive behaviours. They focus on practical tips like how to help manage anxiety, maintain structure and support and explain the situation to young people.
