In these unprecedented times when so many children are likely to be working at home they may be spending more time online than usual. In some homes this may be using unrestricted access so online safety is even more important than ever. We have collected together a range of resources to support parents with helping their children to stay safe online. Some of these will support schools including free access for schools to Parent Zone

Top Tips for Lockdown Safety. With the pressures on the NHS, many parents are worried about a trip to A&E with their child. Here we share top tips to keep children safe from serious accidents.
Parents and carers pages provide a parent and carer toolkit including resource sheet and family agreement. There is advice on parental controls and a ‘hot topics’ section which includes information on supporting young people with SEND online, digital wellbeing, screen time boundaries and keeping under fives safe online among a wide range of other topics that parents might need support with.

Seven activities that have been selected to help children manage their online lives whilst staying at home. With more time using the internet these sets of activities help children to stay safe and talk about how to manage their online lives.

Five activities that have been selected to help children manage their online lives whilst staying at home. With increasing pressure to join social media in this age group there are activities to help children understand how to manage their online lives.
Age 14 – 18
Seven activities that have been selected to help older teenagers manage their online lives whilst staying at home. Some of the activities are shared and are an opportunity for the whole family to get involved with staying safe online.
If you have the technology at home why not support your child to enter this film competition and make a film about staying safe online? iMovie on an iPad will support this and there are other filming apps available. There will be a support pack to help you which is coming soon. The Childnet website gives information on how children can enter directly. The theme this year is ‘We want an internet where we’re free to …’. This is a global competition and could help keep your children entertained, active and connected. Film submission date is 22 June which gives plenty of time for perfecting the action!

The latest resource from Thinkuknow deals with the issue of young people sending digital nude images to each other. These resources (three session plans and worksheets) were produced following some research entitled Digital Romance. The resources are easily accessible and there is also a link to the research that prompted the resource development.
